Exterior Design

Compact outside, surprisingly grown-up inside

The e.MAS 5 is a five-seat hatchback built on a dedicated EV platform — which is why it packs a proper 375-litre boot and a 70-litre frunk into a body only 4,135 mm long. Easy to park in KL, big enough for the weekly Tesco run.

  • Dedicated EV Platform

Purpose-built for electric — which is how a 4,135 mm body fits a 375-litre boot (1,320 litres folded) plus a 70-litre frunk with pneumatic rods.

  • Semi-Concealed Door Handles

Aerodynamic alloy wheels and flush-fitting handles cut drag and give the car its clean, modern silhouette.

  • 65° Extra-Wide Door Opening

Doors open wider than the class norm, which matters far more than it sounds when you are fitting a child seat in a tight car park.

  • Dual-Tone Roof — Premium

Contrast roof and LED headlamps are Premium-variant items; the Prime runs a single-tone roof and halogen headlamps.

Choose Your Variant

Prime atau Premium?

Two variants, one body. The RM13,000 difference buys a bigger battery, more power and 100 km more range — the single most important decision you will make on this car.

Ownership Package

e.MAS 5 Power Pack

Proton bundles the awkward parts of EV ownership into the purchase. Effective from 17 May 2026.

Included

Power Home

Complimentary 7 kW home charger. This is the item that matters most — a wallbox is normally the first out-of-pocket cost after delivery.

Included

Power Anywhere

Complimentary 3-pin portable charger for topping up at the office, a relative’s house or anywhere without a wallbox.

Included

Power Online

5 years of unlimited internet data for the connected features, live charging map and PROTON e.MAS app.

Until 31 Dec 2026

Power Trade-In

RM1,000 trade-in subsidy via CARSOME on selected Proton models (X & S Series, Saga, Exora, Persona, Iriz) and selected other brands. Unlisted models get RM500. CARSOME determines eligibility and valuation.

Offer ended

Power Financing

5-year financing at 1.93% via selected panel banks ran until 30 June 2026 and has now closed. Ask us what rates the panel banks are quoting this month — they change often.

Read this before you count on it: the Power Pack is a Proton campaign, not a permanent specification. The 1.93% financing has already expired and the trade-in subsidy has an end date on it. Get whatever is current confirmed in writing on your booking form — a verbal promise at the showroom is worth nothing when the campaign changes mid-month.

Honest Advice

Who this car is genuinely right for

We sell these cars, so here is the version most brochures leave out.

Buy It

You can charge at home

A landed home or a parking bay where a wallbox can be installed turns the e.MAS 5 into the cheapest car you have ever run.

Buy It

You drive under 60 km a day

A Klang Valley commute plus weekend errands fits comfortably inside either battery, with charging once or twice a week.

Buy It

You want the service network

Proton outlets exist in Kuantan and Kota Bharu, not just KL. For many buyers that matters more than the spec sheet.

Think

High-rise with no charger

Public charging in Malaysia is improving but is still a compromise as your only method. Sort out charging access first.

Think

Prime for highway use

225 km rated becomes closer to 180 km at 110 km/h with the aircon working — and with no adaptive cruise, long drives are more tiring too.

Think

Five adults plus luggage

375 litres is honest hatchback space, not SUV space. If you need more, look at the e.MAS 7 instead.

Our take: the RM13,000 gap is wider than it looks. It is not just 100 km more range — the Premium adds the entire ADAS suite, LED headlamps, the 360° camera, a powered tailgate, dual-tone roof and two extra speakers. The Prime is a genuinely good city car, but it is an EV with halogen headlamps and no driver assistance. Budget for the Premium if you possibly can.
CBU vs CKD

Now assembled in Tanjung Malim, Perak

CKD production began in June 2026 at Proton's RM82 million EV plant, replacing the earlier fully imported units from China.

Same Spec

Nothing changed

No exterior or interior differences between CBU and CKD cars. Same dual-cowl dashboard, same screens, same battery.

Same Price

Pricing held

Unlike the e.MAS 7, which got a price cut with local assembly, e.MAS 5 pricing stayed exactly where it was.

Better Supply

Shorter waiting list

Proton has committed a further RM37 million to lift plant capacity from 20,000 to 42,000 units a year.

How to tell them apart: check the manufacturer sticker on the driver's door sill. A CKD car carries a Proton plate; a CBU car carries Geely's. Choose on colour and delivery date, not on origin — the build quality is indistinguishable on the showroom floor.
6 Ways To Match Your Aura

Exterior colours

2 Moods To Lounge In

Your interior choice is the one that constrains everything else — decide this before you pick a body colour.

Interior pairing: Flint Grey is available on every colour and both variants. Alabaster White is Premium-only and can only be paired with Jade Green, Marble Cream or Quartz Rose — so your interior choice locks your exterior choice. Decide the cabin first.

Luxurious Space

32 storage compartments, and a boot that folds to 1,320 litres

A lounge-style cabin with more room than the class norm. The 70-litre frunk swallows charging cables so they never touch your groceries, and Vehicle-to-Load turns the car into a power station for a campsite or an outdoor movie night.

  • 375 L Boot, 1,320 L Folded

Honest hatchback space with the seats up, small-van space with them down.

  • 70 L Frunk with Pneumatic Rods

Exclusive in its class. Keeps charging cables out of the main boot.

  • 28 L Under-Seat Compartment

Plus 20 litres under the console — both class-leading.

  • Rear Air Vents & Centre Armrest

Small things that decide whether back-seat passengers enjoy a long drive.

Questions

Proton e.MAS 5 FAQ

The questions our sales advisors are asked every single day.

How much is the Proton e.MAS 5 in Malaysia?

The e.MAS 5 Prime is RM59,800 and the Premium is RM72,800, on-the-road without insurance. With Proton's RM3,000 rebate those become RM56,800 and RM69,800. The rebate has been extended several times rather than made permanent, so confirm it is still active on the day you book.

What is the real-world range of the e.MAS 5?

Rated range is 225 km for the Prime and 325 km for the Premium under WLTP, or 285 km and 395 km under the older NEDC cycle. WLTP is the more realistic of the two. On Malaysian highways at 110 km/h with the air-conditioning working, plan for roughly 80 to 85 percent of the WLTP figure. City driving with regenerative braking often beats it.

Is the Proton e.MAS 5 locally assembled?

Yes. CKD production began at Proton's EV plant in Tanjung Malim, Perak in June 2026, replacing the earlier fully imported units from China. There are no specification or pricing changes between CBU and CKD cars.

How long does the e.MAS 5 take to charge?

On a 6.6 kW home AC wallbox, a full 10 to 100 percent charge takes 4.3 hours on the Prime and 5.9 hours on the Premium. On DC fast charging both variants go from 30 to 80 percent in 21 minutes, with the Prime drawing up to 53 kW and the Premium up to 71 kW.

Should I buy the e.MAS 5 Prime or Premium?

The Premium suits most buyers, and the RM13,000 gap buys more than range. You get a 40.16 kWh battery instead of 30.12 kWh, 325 km instead of 225 km, 85 kW instead of 58 kW, plus LED headlamps instead of halogen, the full ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, powered tailgate, dual-tone roof and six speakers instead of four. The Prime has no driver assistance systems at all. Choose it only for short urban trips where upfront price is the deciding factor.

How much is road tax for the Proton e.MAS 5?

Malaysian EV road tax is calculated on motor output, and both e.MAS 5 variants sit at the low end of the scale, so the annual figure is nominal compared with a petrol car of similar price. Verify the current amount with JPJ, as the EV road tax structure has been revised before.

What warranty comes with the e.MAS 5?

The e.MAS 5 carries a 6-year unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty, an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty on the high-voltage battery and components, and 5 years of unlimited internet data. Ask our advisor to show you the current warranty booklet in writing before you sign.

Can I book a test drive without committing to buy?

Yes. Test drives at our authorised Proton outlet are free and carry no obligation. Bring your driving licence, and ask for a route that includes a stretch of highway rather than a lap of the showroom carpark.

What is included in the e.MAS 5 Power Pack?

The Power Pack bundles a complimentary 7 kW home charger, a complimentary 3-pin portable charger, and 5 years of unlimited internet data. A RM1,000 CARSOME trade-in subsidy runs until 31 December 2026 on selected models, with RM500 for unlisted models. The 1.93% five-year financing offer ran until 30 June 2026 and has now ended. Power Pack pricing has been effective since 17 May 2026, and campaign terms change, so confirm what applies on your booking date.

Do I get a free home charger with the e.MAS 5?

Yes. A 7 kW home charger is included under the Power Home component of the Power Pack, along with a 3-pin portable charger. Installation arrangements and any electrical upgrade work at your property are separate, so ask us to walk you through what your home needs before delivery.

Does the e.MAS 5 have ADAS?

Only the Premium variant. It carries adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, blind spot detection, lane change warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear collision warning, door opening warning and front vehicle departure alert. The Prime has rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera but no ADAS. Both variants get six airbags, ESC, ABS, EBD, traction control, hill hold and hill descent control.

What colours does the Proton e.MAS 5 come in?

Six exterior colours: Jade Green, Marble Cream, Quartz Rose, Moonstone White, Graphite Silver and Slate Grey. Two interiors: Flint Grey on all colours and both variants, and Alabaster White which is Premium-only and restricted to Jade Green, Marble Cream and Quartz Rose.

Does the e.MAS 5 have Vehicle-to-Load (V2L)?

Yes, on both Prime and Premium. V2L lets you run external appliances such as lights, a kettle or a projector directly off the car's battery, which is why the e.MAS 5 works well for camping and outdoor events.

How does the e.MAS 5 compare with the e.MAS 7?

The e.MAS 5 is a compact hatchback and the e.MAS 7 is a family SUV with more range, more space and more equipment at a higher price. If you regularly carry five adults and luggage or drive between states, the e.MAS 7 is the better fit.
